Personal reflection (NEWater visit)

What are the 3 key takeaways from today’s visit?

-I have learnt the 4 national taps in Singapore and the number of NEWater plants and desalination plants in Singapore.
-I have learnt that the size of the microscopic pores in the membrane technology can be about 0.04 and 0.0001 microns.
-I have learnt that when treating household used water into NEWater, it has to go through 3 stages. The 3 stages are Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, and Ultraviolet Disinfection.

Name 2 concepts that you have learnt today during the visit.

-I have learnt the process of treating household used water into NEWater.
-I have learnt the parts of the NEWater plant such as the Reverse Osmosis vessels and the technologies that were applied in the NEWater plant.

What is the 1 interesting thing that you have learnt today?

-I have learnt that tap water comprises of 2% of NEWater and 98% of the water that is collected in the reservoir after they have been treated.

What are the things that you can do to help with water conservation in Singapore?

-Everyone has a role and part to play in conserving water, no matter how little the action can help to save water. One of the ways I can help with water conservation in Singapore is to take a shower instead of a bath. Another way is to reuse the water that was used to wash rice, to water the plants.
